The Hypnotist’s Love Story – Book Review #18

I’m a Liane Moriarty fan and like the other books I’ve read of hers, The Hypnotist’s Love Story is easy to read and enjoyable.

The Hypnotist’s Love Story

Here’s the blurb from Goodreads:

Ellen O’Farrell is a professional hypnotherapist who works out of the eccentric beachfront home she inherited from her grandparents. It’s a nice life, except for her tumultuous relationship history. She’s stoic about it, but at this point, Ellen wouldn’t mind a lasting one. When she meets Patrick, she’s optimistic. He’s attractive, single, employed, and best of all, he seems to like her back. Then comes that dreaded moment: He thinks they should have a talk.

Braced for the worst, Ellen is pleasantly surprised. It turns out that Patrick’s ex-girlfriend is stalking him. Ellen thinks, Actually, that’s kind of interesting. She’s dating someone worth stalking. She’s intrigued by the woman’s motives. In fact, she’d even love to meet her.

Ellen doesn’t know it, but she already has.

My Thoughts

I don’t know why, but I kept thinking there was going to be a twist and when I got to the end of the book and there wasn’t a twist, I was a bit disappointed!
However, it was an enjoyable read. I found myself liking all the characters, even the stalker, Saskia. I felt sorry for her losing her family so abruptly and can see how someone can be driven to those types of behaviour.

I think I have another 3 books to read by Liane Moriarty and I’m looking forward to them 🙂
